I started Linzess at the lowest dosage. It worked once and then stopped. As soon as I was moved up to 140+ mg, it worked much better. I take it first thing in the AM with flavored water that has electrolytes in it (VERY important). I use Mio Arctic Grape. Yummy. It helps if you are active after taking it. I usually go within 2-3 hours. Yes, it's runny and yes, I have to have a bathroom handy, but it's better than being stopped up, forcing BMs and the tummy pain. I have IBS-C.

I had an awful MRSA infection in my private area. The surgeon had to cut out the infection. What was to be a simple surgery turned into a lifetime of the worst nerve damage imaginable. Ten years and every possible treatment later, the only way I can escape some pain is by taking a small dosage of opiate daily. The opiate give me me life back and allows me to function normally. But the opioid plugs me up. I was dependent on laxatives but they are awful. Once I began Linzess it immediately worked somewhat. I noticed eating 3-5 dried Turkish apricots, was the missing ingredient to making linzess work best. I tried prunes and raisins. They did not work. Only the apricots for some reason. I changed the time. At bedtime, I take the linzess with a glass of water and dried apricots. First thing in the morning I have a sip of coffee and it's off to the toilet. So easy. No more suffering.

I was given samples from my gastroenterologist and once I ingested the capsule 290 mcg once a day. It started immediately and works directly through the intestines, works exactly how it was explained. Drinking 6 to 8 ounces of water with this wonderful drug for severe Chronic Constipation.

The only side effect I've had after a month so far is diarrhea. I started off with 145mcg it didn't kick in till one whole week later so my doctor upped it to 290mcg, I took it and it worked within an hour and a half. I used to go 2 weeks without having a BM which obviously is really bad so he is aiming for at least 5 BM's a week... the diarrhea sucks but it's better than being impacted and tearing your butt each time you do go & it was never a complete evacuation. Idk how long I'll be on this but if the diarrhea doesn't go away I will only take it prob every 3 days to have a BM you can't function with constantly having to run to the rr.

I take the highest dose of Linzess for IBS. I'm actually a lot younger so the severity of my IBS is pretty rare for my age. I had chronic constipation for 3+ years and NOTHING worked. I was actually hospitalized for almost a week after not having a BM for over 2 weeks. After this hospital stay I was then prescribed Linzess which took about 2 weeks to kick in. However, I have chronic diarrhea, severe nausea almost everyday, hardly any appetite, and I've lost about 25 pounds in just a few months. But when I do not take Linzess, I do not have a BM. I brought this up to my gastroenterologist and his response was "well would you rather be constipated ?" Not really sure where to go from here but Linzess does work. Maybe my age (22) has something to do with the severe side affects.

This wasn't working consistently for me in the first 6 months. I started to take it before my evening meal (instead of breakfast) and it is much more effective. I do get a bit of gas but like many of you I can tell when it's a BM. I previously had bm once a week and now daily/every 2 days.

The drug works wonders. Problem is people hate to read. I failed to read instruction in detail and it didnt work. After battling ibs in numerous ways, decided to read the insert thoroughly. Specifies take on an EMPTY stomach and 30 minutes prior to eating. With plenty of water. Not after breakfast, not after dinner. Once i abided, the drug worked for me and brought normalcy back to my daily life

I have been taking this for 4+ years. I can say it is the best thing ever for constipation. Occasionally a bloated feel after I take it,but it depends on what I ate the days before.

I have been taking Linzess for 9 months. As far as I am concerned, it is a miracle medication. I have been dealing with IBS-C for 18 years. I used to take Zelnorm until it was discontinued, but that only treated the horrible belly pain. To regulate my bowels I would take daily probiotics, intermittent laxatives, daily fiber supplements, a morning spinach/fruit smoothie, one meal with beans, and I would still only have 2-3 bowel movements a week. Since day one of starting Linzess, I have daily bowel movements and I have stopped taking the extra supplements and can eat well balanced meals instead of overdoing the fiber. It has changed my life.

I have been on Linzess for several months now. I've taken daily doses first thing in the morning ranging from 72mg to 290mg. When it works it doesn't seem to matter what dose I've taken, but it's either feast or famine. It either doesn't do much or else it gives me diarrhea. Everyone is going to react to this drug differently I would think. If it works reasonably well then it may be something to take every other day instead of every day. I can deal with a little diarrhea from it as long as it doesn't leave me having to sit on the toilet on and off for hours that's no good. I would recommend that it's a drug worth giving a try.

Took Linzess for eight days of horror. It took about 6 days to start working, then it was slow. During this time I experienced sleeplessness, weight loss, extreme thirst. Lost my breathe while talking to someone. I had to call 911. Few days later I had a physical anxiety attack that lasted 30 minutes. I almost called 911 again. I felt like I was overdosing on this drug of 72 MCG. I was so awake that I could not relax to save my soul. I will never take this drug again. My friend thought I might have had a drug interaction. I take Lisinopril 10 mg for high blood pressure. After I quit taking this drug I started Hyley's Slim Tea that works like a laxative and is 100% natural product. I feel so much better. I go regularly every day with no diarrhea. It also helps to soften the stool.

I have had IBS for many years. Chronic constipation with occasional bouts of diarrhea. Before taking linzess, i would not go BM for a week then on weekends i would take laxatives and enemas. Now that i take linzess i go almost every day. I have been on it over 6 months now. The only problem i had is if i take it in the morning i wouldn't go BM so i started taking it at night. It has changed my life for sure!

I've been on this med for almost a month. I understand it is not a laxative. It didn't start to work until one week after taking the highest dose. Then it stopped and I tried it again with eating while I took one and it gave me diarreah instantly after. So I don't know if it is a good or bad thing.

I was put on Linzess 72 then 145 around 10 years ago. Worked short time. Taken off it. Four years ago different Dr. Was put on again. I said it may work short term. Did not work. Non of THREE different clinics did any text. Went to a different clinic again. First going to put be on Linzess, said it will not work. Decided to do the text you take a pill with 24 marker in. E-ray five days later. ALL 24 markers where still inside. Dr. told me had slow transit constipation. First put on Amitiz nothing. Of course put on Linzess again 145 then 290. Does not work. I was put on just about all over counter laxatives. I read the note from below that this does not work on slow transit. (Thanks). What are my Dr's thinking off ?

Been taking Linzess 145 mg over 1 yr. IBS with Chronic constipation most of my life. 1st it takes a full 2 weeks to start working. Then it work about half the time for me. And sometimes can't leave the house because diarrhea is too severe.(like don't sneeze) Some days no bm at all. Hemorrhoids are worse now than before. And to be blunt having unpredictable explosive bm's affects intimate times. I am going to try and take it every other day and definitely not on high stress days.

This drug works pretty well to relieve my constipation but it causes me to lose my voice and have throat irritation. This is not a listed side effect and I went to a specialist when I didn't have a voice for several weeks who diagnosed me with pneumonia and did not believe it had anything to do with the meds. I have stopped and started this medication 3 times now and each time I begin it I lose my voice after a few days on it and my voice recovers after a few days being off of it.
